George A LeCates, Sr.'s Obituary
Mr. George A. LeCates, Sr. of Laurel, DE passed away on Friday, August 10, 2018. He was 80 years old.
Mr. LeCates was born in Laurel, DE on January 25, 1938 to the late Granville W. and Mary Louise Long LeCates. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife Norma Lee LeCates on April 4, 2018, four brothers, Norval LeCates, John LeCates, Donald Lecates and Granville LeCates, Jr., two sisters, Myrtle Rogers and Virginia Hudson, a son-in-law, Albert Farley and Austin, a great great grandchild
He was a truck driver for Perdue Farms for 24 years before his retirement. He was also a farmer of grain and chickens. He enjoyed rabbit and coon hunting, horseback riding, and fishing. George was a family man who was devoted to late wife, Norma, he loved his children and grandchildren. He always made you laugh and had funny comments, outspoken and knew how to hold his ground
He is survived by five children; Diana Toomey of Georgetown, DE; James LeCates and his companion Teresa of Laurel, DE; George LeCates, Jr. and his companion Joyce of Laurel, DE; Ruth Boyer and her husband Bob of Laurel, DE; and Beverly Nichols and her husband James of Delmar, DE; three sisters, Ilene Baker of Georgetown, DE; Cathy Torbert of Milford, DE and Yvonne Cooper of Laurel. He also leaves behind eleven grandchildren, twenty one great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM on Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at the Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St., Millsboro, DE 19966, where friends may call from 11:00 AM to 12:0 PM for viewing and visitation. Burial will follow in Carey's Cemetery, Millsboro.
