George E. Smith's Obituary
George E. Smith, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, passed away peacefully on June 1, 2024, at Beebe Healthcare in Lewes, DE. He was born on September 3, 1939, in Millsboro, DE, the son of the late Granville and Mildred (Ross) Smith.
George was the proud owner and operator of George Smith Backhoe Service, a business he diligently ran for many years. A huge NASCAR fan, George had a deep passion for everything Ford.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Sue Joseph. George is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Smith, and their daughters: Donna Hardison (Frederick), Michele West (Billy Branscum), and Crystal Johnson (Jerry). He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren: Zac West, Sam West, Robbie Johnson, Roland Johnson, Aliyah Johnson, and Blair "Jelly Bean" Johnson. George is additionally survived by his brother, Richard Smith, and his sister, Barbara Lawson.
A funeral service will be held in his honor on Monday, June 10, 2024, at 11 AM at Watson Funeral Home in Millsboro, DE. A viewing will take place from 10 to 11 AM prior to the service. Interment will follow at Conley's United Methodist Church Cemetery.
