Obituary of Gerald Herman Todd:
Gerald Herman Todd, 78, of Millsboro passed away in the care of the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford, DE on January 17, 2016. He was born on May 16, 1937 to the late Harold and Ellen Mitchell Todd, and was raised by his grandparents: the late Herman and Bertie Mitchell. He overcame many disabilities to attend Georgetown School, and live a productive, full life devoted to his family. He worked 43 years for the State Highway Department (later named Delaware Department of Transportation) retiring in 1991, then working for Swift Construction. He liked to do yardwork and go to the slots. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Pauline B. Elliott Todd and three step-children: Diane Short, of Millsboro; and Joseph A. Moore, Jr.; and Jeffery D. Hitchens, both of Millsboro. He was preceded by a son, Wayne H. Todd, in 2014. He is also survived by two sisters: Penny Shockley, and her husband Howard; and Patty Carmine, and husband Elias; and a brother: Ronald Todd, and fiancé Candy Sherman.
Gerald has four grandchildren: Phillip Hitchens; Joseph Moore IV; Marc Short; and Dean Short; along with five great-grandchildren: Mariah Short; Ashley Short; and Joseph Moore V; Brandon Moore; and Luke Moore. There are also several aunts, uncles, extended family and many friends.
A funeral service will be held at Noon on Thursday, January 21, 2016 at the Watson Funeral Home in Millsboro. Friends may call one hour prior, from 11:00 till Noon for viewing and visitation. Rev. Robert Gray will officiate. Interment is private, at Carey's Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to the Delaware Hospice Center; 100 Patriot Way; Milford, DE 19963.
