Mr. Granville K. Morris' Obituary
Granville Kendal Morris peacefully went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 25, 2024, with family members by his side. He was 94 years young.
Granville "Dole" was born October 31, 1929, to the late Edgar C. and Sarah Jane (Harmon) Morris Sr. in Millsboro. He was raised and still resided on the family farm in Millsboro. Dole was united with Phyllis Harmon on April 19, 1958, and they were blessed with a daughter Wanda Yvette (Harmon) Radish and her husband Robert Radish.
Dole worked as a long haul trucker for 47 accident free years. He started with Tony Johnson, and then went to Baker Express. Next, he moved to Collins and Ryan, and finished his career at the age of 62 with Suburban Propane. He enjoyed 32 years in retirement, and during his later years he developed a strong network of friends in Millsboro, using the Wawa as his base. These friends looked after Dole for years.
Dole was first in many ways, the first to arrive at family functions and the first to leave, first to start eating and first to finish, never late for an appointment and always early. His disposition was always friendly, and everyone who knew him referred to him as a really nice person. Also, Dole loved and maintained his gambling hobby. Playing the sweep stakes, playing the horses, and visiting the slots whenever he could persuade his son-in-law Bob to ride with him.
He was a lifelong member of Harmony Methodist Church, which he would tell you with reverence, was constructed with the help of timber from the Morris family farm. He loved to give and was generous to his family and friends. Dole was a true blessing with a network of friends and family and will be missed by all.
Dole is survived by his daughter Wanda Radish and husband Robert; grandson Shea Radish and wife Heather; and three great grandchildren: Drew, Vann and Zeke. He is also survived by sister-in-laws, Sylvia (Harmon) Morris and Zaidee Morris, and many beloved nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
In addition to his parents, Granville was welcomed home by his wife Phyllis Harmon and his siblings: Edgar "Buff" Morris and his wife Edith, Oscar "Spark" Morris, Noah "Chub" Morris and his wife Millie, Ellen Morris, Delema (Morris) Street and her husband Richard Sr., Alberta (Morris) Coursey and husband Johnny, Preston Lee Morris, and Walter "Pookie" Morris.
A funeral service for Mr. Morris will be held at 11:00AM on Friday, May 3, 2024, at Watson Funeral Home in Millsboro, where friends and family may visit beginning at 10:00AM. Interment will follow at Harmony Cemetery in Millsboro, DE.
Special thanks to family and friends for their support. In lieu of flowers donations may be made, in Granville's name, to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
