Gregory Edward Mareski's Obituary
Gregory Edward Mareski, age 72, passed away unexpectedly on April 3, 2026, at Beebe Healthcare in Lewes, Delaware.
Born on November 7, 1953, in Portsmouth, Virginia, Greg was the son of the late Edward and Mary (Leyko) Mareski. He graduated from Dundalk High School in Baltimore County, Maryland, with the Class of 1971.
Greg took pride in his professional accomplishments. He began his career as an engineer at Amoco Oil, but his true calling was blending his interest in technology and passion for sales. His time as Co-owner and Executive Vice President of Microcomputer Center in the 80s and early 90s coincided with the personal computer revolution, and his time spent in sales at System Source in the 90s and early 2000s saw him helping integrate computer systems into the leading health care systems of the day. His later ventures included sales of bulk farm and industrial equipment at OA Newton, a job in which he found great satisfaction.
Greg also had a creative and artistic spirit. His passion for the guitar saw him performing throughout his entire life, from Motown-inspired cover bands in his teens in Dundalk, to his praise and worship band at St. Paul’s Church in Wenona, Maryland as a retiree. A man of many interests, he was an avid photographer and cyclist. Throughout his life he was enthusiastic about model trains, boating the Chesapeake, and showing dogs. He especially enjoyed collecting watches in his later years. His family joked that his favorite hobby was simply “hobbies.”
Greg will be remembered for his joyful heart and outgoing nature. He never met a stranger, and had a remarkable ability to connect with everyone he encountered. Above all, he cherished his family. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, and lovingly cared for his intellectually disabled brother Mark.
Greg’s beloved wife, Carla, was one of the lights of his life. In 2020, they retired to Millsboro, Delaware, where they embraced the slower pace of life near the beach, creating many happy memories together. They loved dining out, watching Ravens games, and doting upon each other. They were frequently seen at the Atlantic Hotel in Berlin, MD, enjoying food, cocktails, and socializing with other patrons.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in passing by his brother, Mark, in March of 2026; his first wife, Maryanna Mareski, in 1988; and his second wife, Caryl A. Mellott, in 2022. He is survived by his wife of 6 years, Carla Mareski; his daughter, Marybeth Mareski; his step son, Sean Parr, and Sean’s wife, Pouneh; his beloved grandchildren, Daurius and Daurian; his longtime friend, David Webster; and many extended family and friends who will miss his boisterous nature and ability to fill a room.
Services will be held at 2:00PM on Sunday, April 26, 2026, at Rock Creek Church, 23580 Deal Island Rd, Chance, MD 21821. In lieu of flowers, donations made in Greg’s name can be sent to St Paul’s Church, P.O. Box 134 Deal Island, MD 21821.
