HAROLD T TINGLE's Obituary
Harold T. ""Housejack"" Tingle, 102, of Selbyville, DE passed away at the Delmar Nursing Home & Rehabilitation Center in Delmar, DE on July 18, 2013. Born in Selbyville on July 14, 1911, he was the son of the late Charles and Hattie Tingle. He served in the US Army, and was a participant in the Normandy Invasion on D-Day, and the Campaign for Northern France, the Rhineland, and Central Europe. Among his commendations were: the Good Conduct Medal; The Victory Medal; American Theater Ribbon; European, African, Middle East Ribbon. He was a 30 cal. Machine gunner, and amazingly was never wounded in any of the actions he was in. He came home a little shell shocked, and traumatized by war, but came back from it like a man. He was like many of that era, he did his duty and came home. He loved his garden, making wreaths, and hunting. He worked in the Poultry Industry, and the Sawmill, and Bunting Nurseries. He is survived by a host of nieces and nephews, extended family and friends. He left this world with many friends, and memories of his fellow soldiers of the 375th Engineers, Company E, who went on before. He was preceded by his siblings: Charles; Howard; Norman; Herbert; George; Sarah; and Alice. A chapel ceremony at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, August 1, 2013 with the conferring of Military Honors. Interment follows in the cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Watson Funeral Home, P.O. Box 125, Millsboro, DE 19966 to help offset final expenses. Electronic condolences to: www.watsonfh.com
