Harry Wayne Cooper
Harry Wayne Cooper, born on August 18, 1937, in Salisbury, MD, passed away peacefully on January 20, 2025. He was the beloved son of the late Harry Thomas and Mary Hilda (Donaway) Cooper of Willards, MD, and the grandson of the late Larry Thomas and Lillie Mae Donaway and Henry Thomas and Eva Mae Cooper.
Wayne graduated from Millsboro High School with the Class of 1955. When asked what he wanted to accomplish in life, he simply said, "to marry Fay Marvel and be a successful farmer." He achieved both. Wayne was married to the love of his life, Fay Ella Cooper, and they shared 62 and a half wonderful years together before her passing on January 7, 2016.
In addition to his wife, Wayne was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Donna Milligan; his brother, Gary Cooper; and his great-grandson, Benjamin Snyder. He is survived by his daughters, Kathy Fay Snyder and Susan Elaine Godwin; his son, Mark Wayne Cooper, all of Gumboro, DE; and his dear friend and companion, Sharon Mills Hearn of Pittsville, MD. Wayne was a proud grandfather to Brandon Snyder (Carrie), Stacy Hicks, Jarad Godwin, and Julia Godwin, and a cherished great-grandfather to Claire Hicks, Liz Hicks, Jack Hicks, Audrey Snyder, and Brody Snyder.
A funeral service to celebrate Wayne's life will be held on Monday, January 27, 2025, at Watson Funeral Home and Crematorium in Millsboro, DE, at 11:00 a.m., with a viewing from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will follow at Millsboro Cemetery in Millsboro, DE.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ayres United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 52, Pittsville, MD 21850.
