Obituary of Mr. Harry W. Timmons
"Tink"
Harry W. Timmons, 91, of Dagsboro, and formerly of Ocean View passed away on September 18, 2015 at the Brandywine Senior Living Center in Rehoboth, DE. He was born on November 26, 1923 to the late Violetus and Grace Malin Timmons. He was a graduate of Lord Baltimore High School, and served in the US Army during World War II. He served as a Radio Operator in the US Army Signal Corps, and was on Iwo Jima. He also worked for and retired from Delmarva Power, and had such a penchant for always tinkering on projects, that he became known as "Tinker Timmons" or just "Tink." Growing up on and around the waters of Indian River Bay, Tink enjoyed a lifetime of boating, crabbing, fishing and partaking of its bounty. He married his beloved wife, Irma Savage in 1949, and they enjoyed 61 years of marriage together until her passing in 2010.
He is survived by their two children: Deborah Grace Lowry, of Dagsboro, DE and Stephen H. Timmons, and his wife Mary Jo, of Dagsboro. In addition, Mr. Timmons is survived by a brother: James M. Timmons, Sr. and his wife, Betty, of Ocean View; and a brother-in-law: Elwood F. Marvel, of Ocean View and a sister-in-law: Mary F. Savage, of Dagsboro. He also leaves behind three grandchildren: Jason K. Lowry, and his wife Caroline; Clayton A. Lowry; and Jonathan B. Lowry, and his wife Michele; in addition: four great grandchildren: Alexandra, Carter, Brandt, and Payton Lowry. He has four nephews: Richard L. Timmons, Jr., and his wife Linda; Donald W. Timmons, and his wife Marion; Glenn E. Timmons, and his wife Elaine; and James M. Timmons, Jr.. He had many lifetime special friends, including Henrietta W. Daisey and Hilda M. Hudson. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by brothers Richard L. and Paul E. Timmons, and a niece: Nancy E. Timmons.
A viewing will be held on Thursday, September 24, 2015, at the Ocean View Presbyterian Church in Ocean View from 10 AM to 11 AM, followed by a funeral service and Celebration of His Life conducted by the Rev. J. Gerald Eggar. Interment follows at the Ocean View Presbyterian Church cemetery. Floral tributes are accepted, or for those wishing to make a memorial contribution, the family suggests Vitas Hospice, or the Brandywine Senior Living Center.
