Obituary of Harry P. Tingle
On Monday, March 20, 2017 God called Harry P. Tingle from his earthly home to his eternal resting place. Harry was born on July 29, 1950 in Selbyville, DE. He was the son of Mary Sue Tingle and Harry Tingle, Sr.
Harry attended John M. Clayton high school in Frankford, De. He later joined United States Army where he serviced for 4 years. Upon his return to Delaware he relocated to New Castle, DE., where he began to work for the United States Postal service in 1973. Harry was employed with the Post office for 33 years before he retired. He later attended college at Delaware Technical in Wilmington, DE where he received his Associates Degree in Accounting.
Harry loved church and loved God. He attended Victory Christian Fellowship church in New Castle, DE. His favorite scripture was "Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus." Harry loved the bible as he memorized all the scriptures in the bible and he also had a DVD recorded of himself reciting each passage.
Harry aka "Brother" as he was known by friends and family. He was a loving father, brother, cousin and friend. He truly enjoyed life. He was also known best by being an entrepreneur. He was a jack of all trades a master of none.
Harry loved antique cars, loved challenges and achieving them. He was an avid runner, athlete and kickboxer to name a few. He also participated in numerous marathons. He loved sports as Cleveland Cavaliers and Philadelphia Eagles were his favorite teams.
Harry leaves to cherish his memory: his only child, daughter; Tara Tingle (Corey) Thomas of Laurel, DE., 2 grandchildren: Taylor Waters and Cortlyn Thomas of Laurel, DE., 4 sisters: Constance Mann and Lavern Tankard of Dagsboro, DE., Annette (Victor) Street of Millsboro, DE., and one brother Conwell "Rick" (Darlene) Showell and one brother-in-law Edgar (Teresa) Mitchell of Millsboro, DE., and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Harry preceded in death by his father; Harry Tingle, Sr., step-father Conwell Showell, Sr. and mother Mary Sue Tingle and one sister Delema Mitchell.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, March 25, 2017, Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington Street, Millsboro, Delaware at 6:00 p.m.. Family and friends may call for viewing and visitation from 5:00 - 6:00 p.m. Interment will be private. Pastor Michael Bell, Life Church of Delaware, will officiate.
