Obituary of Mrs. Hazel B. Conaway
Mrs. Hazel B. Conaway of Gumboro, DE passed away on Monday, February 8, 2021 surrounded by her family. She was 95 years old
She was born in Gumboro, DE on October 15, 1925 to the late Charles and A. Kattie Brasure. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Norman Conaway in 2007 as well as two sisters, Mattie Hudson, and Doris Brittingham.
Hazel along with her husband Norman owned and operated a poultry and grain farm. She also was a homemaker and a wonderful babysitter to her grandchildren who adored her. Hazel enjoyed gardening, reading, and riding the golf cart. She was a great cook and loved cooking for her family. Hazel was known to be kind, warm, never complained or said a bad word about anyone.
She was a wonderful mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who will be dearly missed.
She is survived by three daughters Norma Toomey (Dennis) of Gumboro, DE; Diane Holston (Paul) of Gumboro, DE and Lorie Stevens (Donald) of Dagsboro, DE; one sister, Charlotta Carey of Salisbury, MD, and a brother-in-law Preston Conaway (Arlene) of Laurel, DE. She also leaves behind one granddaughter Denise Short (Steve) and three grandsons Brian Toomey, Daniel Holston (Heartli) and Kyle Stevens as well as three great grandsons Dillon Toomey, Skyler Holston and Alex Holston. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
A graveside service is planned for 2:00 PM on Friday, February 12, 2021 at the Line Cemetery. Pastor Chuck Reynolds will officiate. Due to the Covid 19 Pandemic social distancing and masks will be required.
