Helen Gertrude Steele's Obituary
Mrs. Helen G. Steele of Georgetown, DE passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 11, 2017 at Harrison House in Georgetown. She was 92 years old.
Mrs. Steele was born in Laurel, DE on February 26, 1925 to the late Emory and Sally Dorman Foskey. In addition to her parents she is also preceded by her husband Thomas E. Steele, Jr. in 1997, a daughter, Phyllis Hitchens in 2015 and a brother, Paul Foskey.
Helen retired as a Floor Manager for Arrow Safety Device where she worked for 55 years.
She was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church in Georgetown, DE. She was very involved in all activities and held many offices over the years. Helen loved to talk on the phone and keep up with her friends. She was a mother to many who had lost their mothers. She will be missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by a son, Thomas E. Steele, III of Rehoboth Beach, DE; a son-in-law, Gerald Hitchens of Georgetown, DE; a sister, Dot Niblett of Laurel, DE; two grandchildren, Sherry Swift and her husband Norman and Kelly DeLeon and her husband Brian both of Georgetown. She is also survived by six great grandchildren and one great- great grandson.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at the Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St., Millsboro, DE 19966, where friends may call from 12 PM - 1 PM for visitation. Burial will follow at St. John's United Methodist Church Cemetery.
