Obituary of Mrs. Hilda Hall
Hilda Esham Dennis Hall passed away on November 17, 2016. She was 96 years old. She was born February 8, 1920 in Gumboro, Delaware to Alfred and Ida Lynch Esham. Her first husband, Alfred Dennis, preceded her in death on October 19, 1959. Her second husband, Chester Hall, preceded her in death on April 9, 2005. She was also preceded in death by brothers: Calvin, Carl and Russell Esham and sisters: Elva Moore; Essie Cordrey, and Nettie Wootten. She was a housewife, and self-employed poultry farmer, growing chickens for Perdue for over 35 years. Hilda was a member of the Eden United Methodist Church in Willards, MD and the Eden Women's Group. She was a past member of the Willards Ladies Auxiliary, and in 1976 was the chairwoman of the cooking shack at the Willards Campground. In 1983, the Willards Lions Club named her Good Citizen of the Year, for her outstanding community service. She will be remembered for her chicken salad recipe, her church breakfast biscuits, and her dumplings. She made pounds of these for church breakfasts, luncheons, dinners and Lions Club catered events. She also enjoyed making fudge and cornbread for her family and friends. She is survived by her step-daughter, Joyce Redmon, and husband Marvin; by grandsons: Chester William Downes, and wife Vicki; Michael Redmon, and wife Janice; great-grandchildren: Kaitlyn and Brayden Redmon. Many nieces and nephews, and good friends are also left to mourn her passing. A funeral service and celebration of her life will be held at the Eden United Methodist Church, in Willards, MD on Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at 1:00 PM, where friends may call one hour prior from Noon till 1:00 PM for viewing and visitation. Interment follows in Dennis Cemetery, Willards, MD. Contributions may be made in her memory to the Eden United Methodist Church, 7283 Main Street, Willards, MD 21874, or Coastal Hospice, P.O.
