HOWARD OLIVER COFFIN's Obituary
Mr. Howard O. Coffin, Sr. passed away peacefully at home in the presence of his family on Tuesday, March 24, 2015. He was 95 years old. Mr. Coffin was born on September 19, 1919, in Millsboro, DE to the late Willard S. and Nora Downs Coffin. He was the last surviving child of twenty. In addition to his parents and 19 siblings, he was also preceded in death by a son, Howard O. Coffin, Jr. Howard owned and operated a painting and floor finishing business. A U.S. Army Veteran of WWII 16th Calvary Squadron, he was a member of Millsboro VFW Post 7422. He was also a member of the Delaware Masonic Lodge # 37 A. F. & A. M. in Dagsboro, and he attended Dagsboro Church of God. Howard was an avid outdoorsman, gardener, hard worker, animal lover, family man, storyteller and jokester. He loved building things and refinishing furniture for his family and friends. His spirit will live on in the hearts of all who loved him. He is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years, Agnes Whaley Coffin of Millsboro, DE; three children, Susan C. Collins and her husband Gene of Dagsboro, DE; Ronald M. Coffin and his wife Donna of Lewes, DE; Nora J. Murray and her husband Jay of Selbyville, DE; a daughter-in-law, Shirley H. Coffin of Millville, DE; along with nine grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Friends may call after 12 p.m. on Sunday, March 29, 2015, at the Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St., Millsboro, DE 19966, with a funeral service and celebration of his life beginning at 2 p.m. Burial will follow at Millsboro Cemetery. Pastor Kim Tephabock and Pastor Gene Cecil will officiate. Flowers are welcome, or donations in Howard's name can be made to the Dagsboro Church of God, 32224 DuPont Blvd., Dagsboro, DE 19939.
