Hubert Ray Patterson's Obituary
Hubert Ray Patterson, age 92, of Millsboro, Delaware, passed away peacefully at home on June 30, 2026, with his devoted wife, Ruth, by his side. He was born on July 20, 1933, in Jones, Oklahoma, and was the son of the late Ray Wesley and Cleo Verna (Allen) Patterson.
Hubert proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for 11 years. Following his military service, he began a career with Transamerica Airlines, where he had the opportunity to travel the world. After retiring from Transamerica Airlines, he continued working with Southern Air Transport.
A respected member of the local community, Hubert served as Past Commander of the Indian River Yacht Club. In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. One of his favorite stories was that he could never go fishing 16 miles offshore unless his father-in-law came along, a tale that always brought a smile to those who knew him.
Above all, Hubert was a devoted husband and best friend to his beloved wife, Ruth. Pat and Ruth shared 38 wonderful years of marriage, years they often described as the best of their lives. He was a man of many talents—an accomplished carpenter, electrician, and mechanic—always willing to lend a helping hand and solve any problem that came his way. His love, dedication, and companionship will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his loving wife, Ruth Patterson; two stepdaughters, Denise Coulbourn and Michele Vickers; three step-granddaughters; and seven step-great-grandchildren.
A chapel committal service with military honors will be held on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro, DE 19966.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs in Hubert’s memory.
