Ivory ""Jessie"" Turnage's Obituary
Ivory Turnage, also known as ""Jesse"", was born on February 10, 1932 to the late Cora Stamp and the late Willie Lofland. Growing up, Ivory was a loving, caring, loyal person, she had a smile that would lightened up the room. There was not a day that went by that Ivory wasn't praying for her children and grandkids, as well as others. Ivory demonstrated a strong love for family. She used to tell us to get our soul right before time winds up! Ivory attended public school in Richmond Virginia. In 1997 Ivory gave her life to Christ as she attended Saint Matthews Baptist Church in Bishopville, Maryland, under the leadership of Dr. M.T. Mitchell. Ivory worked at Vlasic Pickles until she became ill, she then became a stay at home mom! Her biggest dream was to have all her children married and into church. Ivory gave birth to fourteen children and raised five others with a great man who was in her life until she departed. This man is Jessie Darden, with whom she has three biological children and he raised her last seven. Ivory was predeceased by two of her sons, Stanley Lofland and Preston Turnage. The beloved Ivory leaves behind twelve other kids and a host of step-kids; Jessie Mae Talley (Buster of Al), Harry Lofland (of Mass), Sarah Ann Lofland (Ray of NJ), Helen Lofland (of NJ), David Lofland (of NJ), Delores Mitchell (Daniel of Newark), Stella Turnage (of DE), Jarvis Turnage (Shirley of DE), Denise Palmar (Steve of Felton, DE), Grace Drummond (George of DE), Tina Turnage (of Salisbury, MD). Ivory leaves behind a step daughter whom she loved like her own, Elizabeth Leak (Bobby, DE). Alvin Drummond, Belinda Drummond, Jake Drummond, and Terrance Mumford, predeceased Ivory, and all were very loved step children. Ivory leaves behind twenty-three grandkids and sixty-nine great grandkids. Ivory will be truly missed.
