Jacqueline E. Mitchell's Obituary
Jacqueline (Jackie) E. Mitchell, born on August 31, 1936, peacefully passed away on May 6, 2024 at Lofland Park Center, Seaford, DE. She was the daughter of the late John G. Marvel of Elizabethtown, PA and Martha (Webb) Marvel of Gumboro, DE. Jackie was employed for many years as a poultry inspector for the United States Department of Agriculture, and concluded her career at Townsends, Inc. in Millsboro, DE.
Jackie was a devoted member of the Methodist faith throughout her life, including serving as a children’s Sunday School teacher for many years. She enjoyed spending time with her family, including with her three sisters and her many nieces and nephews.
Jackie is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Alvin (Abby) P. Mitchell, as well as two of her sisters, Patricia A. Martinez and Fay E. Cooper. She is survived by her sister, Catherine (Kay) M. Willey of Dover, DE and many treasured nieces, nephews and grand-nieces and grand-nephews. Her laughter and fun-loving spirit will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Services were held privately to honor Jackie's life and legacy, in accordance with her wishes. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to Ayers United Methodist Church, 7515 Gumboro Rd., Pittsville, MD 21850. Interment occurred at Millsboro Cemetery, Millsboro, DE.
