JAMES VICTOR ANTHENELLI, ESQ.'s Obituary
James Victor Anthenelli, Esq., late of Millsboro, DE passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on May 26, 2015 after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Jim was born on July 30, 1950 in Middlesex, NJ. He was the son of Michael and Edith Papa Anthenelli. He graduated from Middlesex High School in 1968 and received his B.S. in Economics from the University of Maryland in 1972. He received his juris doctorate from the University of Baltimore School of Law in 1976. He began his career as Assistant State's Attorney for Wicomico County and practiced as a criminal defense attorney with several law firms in Salisbury, MD. These included Hearne and Bailey; Robins, Johnson and Anthenelli; Anthenelli and Otway; and Anthenelli, Phoebus and Hickman. Jim participated as a member of the Attorney Grievance Commission of Maryland for over 21 years and held three gubernatorial appointments. He received a variety of accolades from the legal community, including being a repeat winner of Metropolitan Magazine's Best Lawyer in Salisbury award. Jim was the beloved husband of Monica Anthenelli for 42 years and he is also survived by his son Michael Anthenelli and his wife Danielle, his daughter Elizabeth Baynard and her husband Robert, his grandson Nolan James Baynard, his brother Robert Anthenelli, his sister-in-law Bridgett Besinger, and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins. He was predeceased by his sister, Edythe Klein Fallon. A memorial Mass will be held at Holy Savior in Ocean City, MD on June 25th at 11:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Delaware Hospice or the Believe In Tomorrow Children's Foundation of Ocean City.
