James "Jimmy" P Elliott's Obituary
Mr. James P. "Jimmy" Elliott of Gumboro, DE passed away on January 2, 2019. He was 73 years old.
Jimmy was born on April 1, 1945 in Lewes, DE to the late Paul and Helen Hickman Elliott who had 14 children. In addition to his parents he is also preceded by five siblings Betty Baker West, Martha Collins, Evelyn Joyce Elliott, Reuben Elliott and Roscoe Elliott.
He was a U.S. Army veteran who served during the Korean War. He retired from Cloverland Dairy where he worked as a milk salesman after 30 years of service.
Jimmy grew up on the family farm and had many fond memories of picking cucumbers and strawberries and working in the garden. He attended Carey's United Methodist Church and enjoyed Carey's Camp every summer. He was a die-hard Raven's football fan and an Orioles fan as well.
He is survived by eight siblings, Pauline Todd of Millsboro, DE; Reba Evans of Gumboro, DE; Shirley Powell (James) of Statesville, NC; Lorraine Clark of Gumboro, DE; Judy Wilkerson (Calvin) of Gumboro, DE; Harry Elliott (Carol) of Georgetown, DE; Vernon Elliott (Lois) of Gumboro, DE and Roland Elliott (Bonnie) of Millsboro, DE. He also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews as well as two special friends George Collins and Earl Stanley.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at the Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St., Millsboro, DE 19966, where friends may call from 12:00 PM till 1:00 PM for viewing and visitation. Burial will follow in Carey's Cemetery in Millsboro, DE.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
