JAMES JAY KEENAN's Obituary
James Jay Kennan of Millsboro, DE passed away on Monday, March 2, 2015, after a long battle with cancer. He was 61 years old. Mr. Keenan was born on July 2, 1953 in Providence, RI to the late Samuel and Irene David Keenan. In addition to his parents he is also preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph and Samuel Keenan. He was the owner/operator of James Keenan Masonry and was well known for his superb, meticulous masonry skills. Jim was a US Army Veteran. He was very active in his community, a member of Zoar United Methodist Church, past Assistant Chief of Millsboro Fire Co., VFW Ambulance Corps, and Post 7422 Past Ambulance Captain as well as a member of the Millsboro Cruisers. He loved flowers and gardening and enjoyed being outside and spending time with his family and friends. Jim was caring, humorous and had the knack for telling a really good joke. He took pride in his family and was a great husband, father, grandfather and teacher. He is survived by his beloved wife of 37 years, Beatrice Keenan of Millsboro, DE; four children, Michael Keenan and his wife Shannon of Harbeson, DE; Sarah Keenan of Georgetown, DE; Joshua Keenan and his wife Michelle of Georgetown, DE, and Joseph Keenan of Millsboro, DE; five sisters, Mary Lawson, Irene Keenan, Barbara Elliott, Victoria Sanfeliz, and Joan Keenan, along with eight grandchildren, and one great grandchild. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A funeral service will be held at 12:30 PM on Friday, March 6, 2015, at the Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St., Millsboro, DE 19966, where friends may call after 10:30 AM. Burial with firemen and military honors will follow at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Millsboro.
