James Norman Leopard's Obituary
Obituary of James Norman Leopard
Retired D.C. Metropolitan Police Officer
James Norman Leopard, 78, of Seaford passed away in the care of Tidal Health, Nanticoke on February 20, 2022. He was born on September 26, 1943 in North Little Rock, Arkansas to the late Frank Mac Adams and Vivian Heilman Adams. He completed his education in the US Air Force where he served for four years, and then became a police officer in Washington, D.C., retiring after many years of service. He went on to become a supervisor and Lieutenant in the security division of the National Geographic Society. He married Janice Howell, and together they raised two children during those years. He loved reading, and admired trains, collecting railroad memorabilia. Family was all important to him, actually everything to him.
His biggest hobby was motorcycling, and he owned several over the years, graduating to a Can Am. He earned the nickname "No Cash" travelling to places that would not take credit cards, and had to get help from his motorcycle buddies, much to the humor of all of them.
He is survived by his wife, Janice and two children: Michelle Renee, of Crofton, MD and Frank Mac Adams, of Welcome, MD. He has one sister: Jeanne Morgan, of Richmond, VA; and a brother: William Mac Leonard, of Sherwood, Arkansas. There are two grandchildren: Mark Andrew Buscher and Sean Michael Buscher. In addition, he has five great-grandchildren with a sixth "on the way."
A time of viewing and visitation will be held at the Watson Funeral Home in Millsboro, DE on Sunday, February 27, 2022 from 12:00 Noon until 1:00 PM. A funeral service and Celebration of His Life will be held at 1:00 PM with Dr. James Van Der Wall officiating. On Monday, February 28 James will be escorted by motorcycles in a procession from the funeral home to the Delaware Veteran's Memorial Cemetery for committal rites and the conferring of Military Honors.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22478; Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73123,
