Obituary for Jennie M. Hargett
"Sacred Heart"
Jennie M. Hargett, "Sacred Heart", passed away peacefully on January 24, 2017 at her Millsboro residence. She was 71 years of age.
Jennie was born to the late Donald, Sr. and Isabelle Johnson Hitchens on August 22, 1945. She was a member of Friendship United Methodist Church, Nanticoke Indian Association, American Legion and WOW ministry at Friendship United Methodist Church. While she had no biological children, Jennie considered it a blessing to care for her nieces and nephews as they were growing up.
Her favorite past-times were fishing, crabbing and camping. She also enjoyed the many visits from her nieces and nephews whom she loved to share her words of wisdom.
Jennie was preceded in death by her husband, Walter T. Hargett; three sisters, Catherine M. Soil, Mildred E. Norwood, and Betty A. Peacock; one brother, Leroy J. Hitchens.
She leaves to cherish her fond memories one sister, Corrine L. Sammons; one brother, Donald E. Hitchens, Jr., both of Millsboro; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at 11:30 a.m., Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington Street, Millsboro, Delaware. Family and friends may call for visitation and viewing from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Internment will immediately follow at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro, Delaware. Pastor Karen Mumford will be the officiant.
