Jennie LaVere Vucinich's Obituary
Jennie LaVere (Seibert) Vucinich, age 92, of Millsboro, Delaware went home to be with the Lord on June 2nd, 2025. She was the only child of her loving parents, Irvin and Jennie (Runyan) Seibert of Huntington, West Virginia, where her father taught physics and chemistry at Huntington High School for 33 years. Jennie graduated from Huntington High in 1950 and went on to attend Marshall University, where she majored in Home Economics and Business.
She lived in California for 35 years, where she married her beloved husband, David Vucinich, who predeceased her in 2014. Together they shared 48 wonderful years filled with love and travel, music and cooking (especially for family and friends). During those years, they raised their daughters, Shana Nava and Donica Rust. Jennie also had two sons, Joseph Bell and David Bell with her first husband, Johnston Bell, who also predeceased her.
She is survived by her four children: Joseph Bell, David Bell, Shana Nava, and Donica Rust. Jennie was a proud and loving grandmother to Jenna Mills and Rachel Mills (daughters of Shana), and Lucas and Riley Rust (sons of Donica and Bryan Rust). She was also blessed with two great-grandsons, John and Noah.
Professionally, Jennie was honored to work on the staff of the UCLA School of Law in Los Angeles. When she and her family moved to the desert, she served as Administrative Secretary for the Presiding Judge of the Supreme Court of Riverside County in Indio, California. After retiring, she continued to give back to her community by directing a handbell choir at the Evangelical Free Church of Yucca Valley, California.
In 1998, Jennie and Dave moved to Millsboro, Delaware to be closer to family. She served as the organist at Eastgate Presbyterian Church in Long Neck, Delaware for 19 years, where she was a devoted member of the congregation. Jennie also served as director and accompanist of the Sunshine Singers for over 22 years. Performing regularly at Cheer Centers and nursing homes throughout Sussex and Kent counties, the Sunshine Singers became like family to her, with bonds she treasured deeply.
Jennie lived a life full of faith, music, service, and love. She touched many lives with her warmth, her wit, and her unwavering devotion to her family and community. Though her music has quieted, the echoes of her love and strength remain in every note played, every meal shared, and every life she graced.
Services will be private.
