Obituary of Jewel Preston Revel:
Jewel Preston Revel, 79, of Millsboro, DE passed away at his home on July 9, 2017. He was born on August 25, 1937 in Millsboro to the late Wilford William and Addie Hester Littleton Revell. He had worked most of his life as a general labor worker and painter doing maintenance work, and painting. He stayed on, and maintained the family farm all of his life. He served in the Delaware National Guard, and was honorably discharged. Jewel was a well-known, talkative and fixture in town, known for walking all over the place, and his habit of sitting in his beloved white Dodge truck. He liked horseracing. He loved his family, but also valued solitude. He was a real character familiar to most Millsboro natives.
He is survived by his three children: Ruby Revel-Williamson, of Greenwood; Ricky Revel, of Georgetown; and Ray Revel, also of Georgetown. He was preceded by one daughter: Star Van Gorres. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. In addition to the family, he is survived by his close friend of 25 years, Elsie.
A graveside service will be held in Millsboro Cemetery at 2:00 PM on Monday, July 17, 2017. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to help offset medical and funeral expenses.
