Jimmie Balton's Obituary
Jimmie “James” Balton, 81, left us peacefully on September 12, 2024, in Milford, DE. Born on January 8, 1943, in Williamsville, DE, Mr. Balton was the beloved son of the late Pastor Louise Bolton Williams and cherished grandson of the late Letha Sturgis. His sister, Catherine Harmon, also preceded him in passing.
Mr. Balton dedicated many years of service at KSI, through which he developed strong bonds and a reputation as a reliable and dedicated worker. His spiritual life was deeply rooted in St. Matthews Baptist Church in Bishopville, MD, where he found solace, community, and inspiration. An avid fan of stock car races, Mr. Balton could often be found cheering on his favorite drivers at the Georgetown racetrack. His number one hobby was picking up cans, his hands-on activity, while his taste in entertainment ranged from the intensity of WWE matches to the classic Americana of "Leave It to Beaver" and Westerns.
Mr. Balton is survived by his three nieces: Lisa Bolden, Ardie Bolden, Pamela Coleman (Shawn); three great-nieces: Tomekia Bolden, Kimberly Bolden, Adaiah Bennefield; great nephew, Troy Bolden; eight great-great-nephews; and an extensive family that includes numerous extended relatives and dear friends. His friendship with Bobby Baker and David Cannon was profound, as he held them close to his heart like brothers.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2024, at 12:00 PM at Watson Funeral Home & Crematorium, 211 South Washington Street, Millsboro, DE 19966, where friends may visit beginning at 11:00 AM. Interment will immediately follow at St. John 2nd Baptist, Millsboro, DE.
