John J. Anton Sr. "Butch"'s Obituary
John J. Anton, Sr. (Butch), age 81, of Lewes, DE, passed away on Sunday, November 12, 2023, surrounded by his children. Born December 25, 1941, to William Washington Anton, Jr. and Frances Wysocki. John is predeceased by his loving wife Bertha Jane Anton (Zinszer) and a sister Katherine Sheeky.
John leaves behind a son, John James Anton, Jr and a daughter Barbara Ann Anton Capone (Robert). Siblings: Dolly Markiewicz (Jerry) Barbara Greene (Bill) and William Anton (Dona). Grandchildren: Alisha Shears (Tim), Samantha Bonaduce (Joe), Michael Capone, John James Anton, III, (Brianna), Rachel Marisa Anton, Joseph William Anton, and Justin Blake Anton. Great Grandchildren: Olivia, Jocelyn, Carson, Aubrey, Stella, Olivia, and the future twins of granddaughter Samantha. John was also blessed with many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
John worked at the Ship Yard in Chester, PA for 23 years and retired from Congoleum after 20 years as a machinist. After retiring, he and our mother moved to Lewes, DE from Boothwyn, PA where they spent the last 20 years celebrating their lives together with their grandkids. Our dad loved taking the kids on the boat to line crab and just sit and chat.
To our family, he was not only our father, but also was our hero. His passing leaves a void in the family that can only be filled with precious memories. We take solace that he is now reunited with his wife and our mother, who passed away just 26 months ago.
Our father was very loved by so many because he was such a genuine and funny sole who loved to make people happy and comfortable. This same man also loved his sweets, so much so that at family functions the family would always make a doggie bag full of sweets (even at weddings). He loved everyone and everyone loved him.
