JOHN SYLVESTER HOPKINS's Obituary
Mr. John Sylvester Hopkins, age 76 of Millsboro, DE passed away on Monday, September 26, 2016.
John was born on June 22, 1940 in Baltimore, MD to the late Curtis D. and Mary E. Watson Hopkins. In addition to his parents he is also preceded in death by a sister, Mozelle Hyland, and two brothers, Daniel Hopkins and Samuel Hopkins.
Mr. Hopkins retired from Bethlehem Steel Co in Baltimore, MD, where he worked as a carpenter. John loved to bowl with the league here in Millsboro. He enjoyed construction work and built things for the daycare kids. He was a very warm, loving and mild tempered man and will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife Arlene Hopkins, three children, Ellen Robinson of Upper Marlboro, MD; Clarissa Jones of Suffolk, VA; John Hopkins, Jr. of Charlotte, NC, a step-daughter, Deborah Gregory of Baltimore, MD; two brothers, Nathaniel Hopkins (Edith) of Largo, MD; Robert L. Hopkins (Evelyn) of Millsboro, DE; a sister-in-law, Margaret Ann Hopkins of Millsboro, DE; seven grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 8, 2016 at the Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St., Millsboro, DE 19966, where friend may call for viewing and visitation from 10 AM - 11 AM. Burial will follow in Harmony Cemetery.
