John Pierson's Obituary
John Pierson departed this life on November 19, 2023, at the age of 80 years old in his home surrounded by love. John was born on July 28, 1943. John came to live with The Salvation Army almost 30 years ago after living at Stockley Center for many years.
John worked at Easter Seals for many years and could be remembered as the guy cleaning the front doors of the Millsboro post office and asking everyone that walks by “Are you worth two cents?” John enjoyed the simple things in life, such as radios, headphones, batteries, record players, watches, Elvis music, Santa Claus, Christmas time, Subs or any kind of food and sitting in his swing in his yard or back porch. and those things made his life full. He loved shooting basketball and riding his 3 wheeled bike in the driveway. John lived a good life. He enjoyed community outings and endured many memories and friendships along the way.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Horace and Eve Pierson, a brother Horace William Pierson, III and a sister Louise Pierson Greenfield as well as two long time housemates LeeRoy Weinberg, Albert King and friend Donna Hill.
John leaves behind the memories of his smile and the many caretakers that cared for him through the years.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, December 6, 2023, at the Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St., Millsboro, DE 19966. The viewing will be from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM.
Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
