It was so sad to hear of Joe's passing. Joe always made you feel like a friend. Joe would never pass you by with a quick hello or a wave, he would always stop and say hello. Going to high school with Joe there were many fond memories. We went to satellite school together for part of the day. Where you learn the trades like masonry, electrical, carpentry. Joe did carpentry and I did masonry. We worked on several projects together to give us experience to learn the trades. We had great times.Joe and I would ride together once in a while. Mostly Joe drove he had a newer and faster car. (LOL)We would have great conversations and eat our lunch on the way there. One rule Joe had was not to spill anything in his car. Well, I passed that test.(LOL)Joe played High school football and was a great offense and defensive lineman.I would go watch him and a few other people from our class play. He always gave it his all. I remember talking to him about the games.I remember one day we drove to his new house in Old Tappan. The house was really big.I met Joe's father he was a very nice person. I can see where Joe got some of his kindness. After we graduated I didn't see Joe that much until one day back in 1995 at Pascack Valley Hospital. I Don't remember why he was there. My wife and I were having our second child unfortunately she went into labor in her first trimester and our son only lived a few hours. After being so upset I went out to have a cigarette and there Joe was standing there. After updating him about my situation, he talked to me for over an hour and made me feel so much better. Considering what I was going through. in my opinion, it is as if God put him there to talk to just me. Through the years as I would reminise about my high school days, he would always be one of the friends I would talk about.A few years ago I saw his sister Leighann on Facebook and asked her how Joe was doing and asked for his information.I come to find out that Joe was in Maryland when I was in Maryland and had then moved to Delaware. I called him a few times. It was great to catch up. We talked about getting together then Covid came and we couldn't.I'm sorry that the situation occurred would have been nice to see him.I will always remember the wonderful memories.Joe until we meet again rest in peace. My condolences to Joe's entire family and friends.Lee Humphrey (Class of '83)
