Joseph “Joe” F. Balback of Millsboro, Delaware, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 14, at Delaware Hospice in Milford, Delaware.
Joe was born in Wilmington, Delaware on December 26, 1945. He was a 1963 graduate of Mount Pleasant High School. He served in the Army from 1964 – 1966. After being honorably discharged from the Army, Joe worked several years for Atlantic Aviation.
In 1968, Joe’s love for the outdoors led him to move to Sussex County. He was employed at Indian River Power Plant for 33 years. After retirement, he started a small business as a painter/handyman. He was excellent at this job.
When Joe’s sons were young, he became an enthusiastic Little League Coach and Umpire. He was a loyal Philadelphia Sports fan following his beloved Phillies and Eagles.
Joe was happiest when he was outdoors hunting. He was the founder of double “00” Hunting Club where he was a member for over 30 years. He taught his sons and many of their friends the love of the outdoors and safe hunting skills.
However, the most beloved part of his life was his family and close friends. He was there for anyone who needed a helping hand.
