During the chemo and radiation treatments, he continued to appreciate hiking, and travelling the canyons, mountains, lakes and forests of the west. Mother Nature gave him the strength to battle the cancer as it riddled his body and mind. Joe's family truly loved him and tried to be as supportive as possible as he struggled with cancer. On Feb. 9, Joe lost his battle due to complications from the cancer in Phoenix, AZ. He was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Anthony Sekcienski, Sr. in 2008.
