KATHRYN MARIE MITCHELL's Obituary
Obituary of Mrs. Kathryn Marie Mitchell:
Kathryn Marie Mitchell, 97, of Millsboro and Ocean View, DE passed away in the care of Atlantic Shores Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Millsboro on July 3, 2016. She was born on March 10, 1919 to the late William Calvin and Virginia Brittingham Wingate in Dagsboro, DE. She attended the Blackwater Country School, and then graduated from Lord Baltimore High School, Class of 1937. She married her husband, Wilbur L. Mitchell on May 18, 1940, who preceded her in death on October 17, 1992. She was a life-long member of Hickory Hill UMC, where she served in many capacities.
Marie was a wonderful mother who loved the "Farm Life" and being part of a large family. She was a woman of great faith, a workaholic who was amazing in her capacity to pick fruit fast with both hands. She possessed a very positive attitude and was an encourager to all she met. She loved to sing, visit Cape Hatteras and Maine, along with gardening and travel.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded by four brothers: George, Warren, Billy and Lemuel Wingate. In addition, four sisters: Ida Wingate; Pauline Quillen; Betty Derrickson; and Grace Hudson. She was also preceded by her son-in-law, Harry McClung.
Marie is survived by her daughter and best friend: Luray McClung, of Millsboro and Ocean View; her grandsons: Asher McClung, of Millsboro, DE; Aaron McClung, and his wife Christina Maria, of Toronto, Ontario, Canada; also her great-grandsons: Asher Luke and Isaac Andrew McClung, of Toronto; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition, she also is survived by one sister: Faye Daisey, of Wapwallopen, PA.
Services will be held Monday, July 11, 2016 at Watson Funeral Home with a viewing and visitation hour from 11 AM till 12 Noon. A funeral service will be held at Noon with the Rev. Norman Poultney officiating. Interment follows at Millsboro Cemetery. Flowers are welcomed, or memorial contributions can be made to Hickory Hill United Methodist Church, C/O Roy Rogers, 28209 Walt Carmean Lane, Millsboro, DE 19966.
