Larry "John" McBroom's Obituary
Larry “John” McBroom, of Laurel, DE, benefit of life reached its finale on
Wednesday, February 21, 2024. He was born on September 17, 1975, in
Seaford, DE, he was the son of the late Larry and Frances (Watkins)
McBroom.
After graduating from high school, he matriculated at Wilmington College
earning a bachelor of science degree in criminal justice. He furthered his
graduate education at California Lutheran University, earning a master of
science degree in public administration.
Ever the consummate dreamer, John moved to California after college,
and began working at Wachovia Bank in their mortgage division, and
also obtained his real estate license. After the 2008 housing crisis, John
relocated back to his hometown of Laurel, and began working for M&T
Bank in their asset management department.
He was a great thinker and voracious reader who took a great interest in
the world around him. He was also a sports aficionado, with his favorite
teams being the Baltimore Orioles and Philadelphia Eagles.
He will be joining his parents and brothers Mike and Richard in Heaven.
Remembering and cherishing him always will be his brother, Wayne
Isaiah McBroom; sisters Renee’ DeShields, Laura Bach, Gena
Hammond, and Katie Hammond, an abundance of nieces and nephews,
and his in law Bonnie Hammond.
A service will be held on Friday, March 01, 2024, at 11am at Watson
Funeral Home in Millsboro, DE, with a visitation from 10-11am prior to
the start of the service. Interment will be held at Odd Fellows Cemetery
in Laurel, DE, immediately following the service.
