Laura Jane Ellen Wells' Obituary
Laura Jane Ellen Jones Wells Frankford, DE – Laura Jane “Janie” Ellen Jones Wells, 78, passed away peacefully on September 28, 2025, at Mercy Medical Center in Baltimore, MD. She was born on November 9, 1946, in Berlin, MD, daughter of the late Franklin and Laura Viola (Holston) Jones.
Laura worked for the State of Delaware for 17 years at the Stockley Center in Millsboro, DE, and was a devoted woman of faith. A true believer, she loved sharing the word of God and dedicated her life to serving others through ministry. She was a dedicated member of Joshua House Ministries for almost 20 years, where she was deeply involved in church life. Prior to Joshua House, she was a member of the Millsboro Wesleyan Church for 12 years. She faithfully led the nursing home ministry at Atlantic Shores in Millsboro for over two decades. She was also passionate about celebrating birthdays and sharing the word of God by handwriting cards to every member of her church along with countless friends and family members.
Laura’s joys in life included dancing, reading medical books, and above all, spreading the gospel. She cherished every moment with her beloved family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Richard Lee “Ricky” Wells, Jr.; her brother, Thomas Franklin “Tommy” Jones; and her brother-in-law, Jim Frampton.
She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Richard Lee “Butch” Wells, Sr.; her children, Jimmy Wells (Lynn) and Kevin Wells (Jamie); grandchildren, Natalie Wells (25), Wyatt Wells (13), Jackson Wells (8), and Leo Wells (6); her siblings, Willia Frampton and George Jones (Dee); and numerous nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her best friend, Debbie Hudson, and her husband, Houlton.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 3, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Watson Funeral Home and Crematorium, 211 S. Washington Street, Millsboro, DE, where a viewing will take place from 9:00 am to 11:00 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will follow at Selbyville Redmen’s Cemetery. A celebration of life will be held after the services at Gumboro Fire Hall.
