Laverne D. Hall's Obituary
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of Laverne D. Hall in her sleep on the morning of Saturday, February 24, 2024. Laverne's journey began in Frankford, Delaware, where she was born at home as the third child to Roland Wescott, Sr. and Edith I. Wescott. Laverne’s father preceded her in death.
Laverne's early years were spent in the nurturing environment of Delaware's public schools, where she attended Frankford Elementary and later graduated from Indian River High School in 1977. Her adventurous spirit led her to Easley, South Carolina, where she embraced various employment opportunities, including a notable position at Clemson University.
In October 2017, Laverne faced a serious health challenge that brought her back to Delaware. She found solace and care in the loving arms of her sister, Gale M. Briddell, in Georgetown, who stood by her side as her devoted caretaker until her last breath. She enjoyed planting flowers, cooking, rides with her sister and attending the day program at Easter Seals in Georgetown. A special thank you to Easterseals and their wonderful staff that provided Laverne a safe ,caring, supportive, fun and social environment through their day program.
Laverne's legacy lives on through her cherished family. She is survived by her son, William L. Wescott (Dover, Delaware), and her daughter, Mellisa A. Hall (Easley, South Carolina). She leaves behind her beloved mother, Edith I. Wescott (Seaford, Delaware), her brothers, Roland Wescott, Jr. (Pocomoke City, Maryland), Sherwood R. Wescott (Krisz) (Parsonsburg, Maryland), and Edward Wescott (Miriam) (Georgetown, Delaware), along with her sisters, Gale M. Briddell (Georgetown, Delaware) and Zina Y. Bourne (Hinesville, Georgia). Laverne's joy was multiplied by her five grandchildren (Anfernee, Sheyenne, Shyhiem, Arshari, Amir), Six great-grandchildren (Amar, Ayden, Adrian, Azrielle, Aron, Azalea), and a wide circle of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will miss her dearly.
Laverne's departure leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew her, but her spirit and love will forever remain a guiding light in their lives.
