Leah Williams Dorey's Obituary
Leah W. Dorey 93 of Millsboro, DE passed away on Wednesday, July 25, 2012. Born in Fenwick Island, DE,on Feb. 9, 1919, she was the daughter of the late George and Eva (Rickards) Williams. Leah was a secretary for the family business, W. B. Dorey & Sons, Contractors and Builders for many years, as well as being a homemaker. Leah was a member of Zoar United Methodist Church in Millsboro where she had previously taught Sunday school and sang in the choir. Her most important role was that of a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Leah was never happier than when she was surrounded by family. She was also blessed with a wide circle of friends, many of whom she had met while spending winters at their second home in Pine Island, FL. Leah loved visitors to chat,play cards with and cook for. You could not enter her home without being fed, it didn't matter whether you were hungry or not. She was a very special person, and her family and friends will greatly miss her. In addition to her parents, Leah was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Francis Dorey and her only son, Gerald Dorey. She was also predeceased by her siblings, Anna Williams, Julia Hickman, Marion Hadder, George Williams, Betty Carey, Irma Hudson, John Williams, and Kenny Williams. She is survived by her sisters, Eva Baker of Hebron, MD, and Jeanette Grise of Selbyville, DE and her brother, Donald Williams (Dianne) of Seaford, DE. Leah will be dearly missed by her daughter-in-law, Linda Dorey, her grandchildren, Mark Dorey (Angie) of Virginia Beach, VA, Brad Dorey (Cathy) of Ocean View, DE, Nicole Scott (John) of Delmar, DE, Renee Benjamin of Seaford, DE, eight great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. A Funeral Service will be held at Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St., Millsboro, DE on Tuesday, July 31, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. Family and friends may greet the family after 10:00 a.m. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery in Georgetown immediately following the funeral service.
