Leon Gene Howard Sr.'s Obituary
Mr. Leon Gene “Butch” Howard, Sr. of Gumboro, DE passed away at the Delaware Hospice Center on Wednesday, September 13, 2023. He was 82 years old.
He was born in Baltimore Maryland to the late Shirley Clifford Howard and Louise Frey Howard.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife Nina Lee Howard in 2017, a son, Louis Howard, two brothers: Norwood Howard, Edward Howard as well as one sister Thelma Daffin.
Butch retired from Sherwin Williams where he worked as a mechanic for their manufacturing facility. He was devoted to his family. Butch enjoyed visits with his family especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was known to spoil them and liked to surprise and spoil them. He loved animals, watching westerns, and playing on his computer. Butch meant a lot to his family, and he will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by one son, Leon G. Howard, Jr. and his wife Dawn of Gumboro, DE; and one brother Shirley “Shorty” Howard of Baltimore, Md. He was blessed by two grandchildren: Andrew S. Howard and his fiancé Brooke and Sarah Ankrom and her husband Jordan all Gumboro, DE. Butch was also blessed with two great grandchildren whom he adored Jaxon and Luna. He is also survived by extended family and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, September 20, 2023, at the Watson Funeral Home and Crematorium, 211 S. Washington St., Millsboro, DE 19966, where friends may visit from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at 2:00 PM at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
