Born on January 10, 1922, Leona was the daughter of the late James G. and the late Maggie E. Hall of Clarksville, DE. She was the sixth of eleven children (eight sons and three daughters). Born in the Clarksville area, she spent her entire childhood and most of her adult life in Clarksville. Born into a large, strong, and loving family, Leona met many challenges along life's way. These challenges enabled her to meet life with enduring strength, an unwavering faith, and a tenacious perseverance. She lived her life guided by a personal code of values. She received her education at the Blackwater School #207 in Clarksville, DE which was located on the current site of the Union Wesley United Methodist Church. Having been reared in a strong spiritual, Christ-centered family, Leona learned early to trust in God and lean on Him for strength and direction. This led to her early membership in Union Wesley United Methodist Church. Leona was blessed with two sons; one daughter, Daphne Hall knight Bennett who predeceased her; fourteen grandchildren; forty-one great grandchildren; and ten great great grandchildren; as well as a host of nieces and nephews. Some of her most precious moments were when she was loving and nurturing her family. She was employed in numerous positions in Sussex County and as a cook in the Dover, Delaware. Leona served her family as well as others in the Clarksville community. A friend was a stranger she had not yet met. Leona's Legacy will live on through her two sons, Ronald of Clarksville, DE and Everett of Dover, DE; two sisters, Lucinda Allen White of Lewes, DE and Agnes Coleman of Atlantic City, NJ; one brother, Ernest Hall of Philadelphia, PA; two sisters in law, Ernestine Hall of Marion, SC and Evelyn Hall of Clarksville, DE; fourteen grandchildren; forty-one great grandchildren; and ten great great grandchildren.
