LUCIEN THOMAS LENHART's Obituary
Mr. Lucien Lenhart of Millsboro, DE passed away on Sunday, November 9, 2014. He was 101 years old. Lucien was born in 1913 in Essington, PA to the late Mahlon Thomas and Tevillia Hunsicker Lenhart. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Lawson Lenhart in 1989, two sisters, Phyllis Lenhart and Eleanor L. Hoefer and one brother, Powell Lenhart. He moved to Oak Orchard in 1919. He graduated from Millsboro High school in 1930 at the age of 16 and was the Valedictorian of his class. He enlisted in the army in 1943 and served our country during WW II under the 482nd Ordnance Evacuation Company. Mr. Lenhart worked at Collins and Ryan from 1937 - 1978. He was a long-time member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church where he was a Lay Reader, choir member, and Sunday School Superintendent. He was Past Master of Franklin Lodge #12, member of York Rite and Scottish Rite Bodies, Life Member of Tall Cedars of Lebanon Evergreen Forest No. 49, member of American Legion Post #22 for 68 years and member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7422 for 68 years. He is survived by a son, Lucien Lenhart, Jr. and his wife Sandy of Middletown, DE, a daughter, Aleta L. Esham and her husband William of Millsboro, DE, three grandchildren, Lucien Lenhart, III and his wife Kristen, Jennifer Grassett and her husband Mark, Logan Mason and her husband Andrew, three great grandchildren, Connor, Nick and Benjamin along with two nieces, Donna Owens and Mona Wyatt. A viewing will be held on Tuesday evening from 6 - 8 PM at the Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St., Millsboro DE 19966. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, State St. Millsboro, DE 19966. Burial with Military Honors and a Masonic Graveside Service will follow at Millsboro Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations in Mr. Lenhart's memory to St. Mark's Episcopal Church.
