Obituary of Mrs. Lucille M. Mitchem
Mrs. Lucille M. Mitchem of Gumboro, DE passed away at home in the care of her family and Seasons Hospice on Friday, March 4, 2022. She was 80 years old.
She was born in Crystal, WV on January 14, 1942, to the late Woodrow W. and Beckie Jane Taylor Belcher. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her daughter Sheila Lopez in 2015, two sisters Brenda and Connie as well as one grandchild Nicholas in 2017.
She and her husband Larry were married on September 26, 1959, and together they raised three children. They moved from Hanover, MD to Gumboro in 1988. She worked for Tate Architectural for approximately 19 years and was also a homemaker and a loving babysitter to her grandchildren.
She enjoyed watching gameshows, crossword puzzles, bargain hunting and planting and maintaining her flower beds. Lucille was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister who will be dearly missed.
Lucille is survived by her husband of 62 years Larry Mitchem of Gumboro, DE; two sons, Anthony Mitchem of Gumboro, DE and Ronnie Mitchem of, NC. She is also survived by one brother Douglas Belcher and two sisters Maxine Branscom and Janice Shelton. Lucille was blessed with seven grandchildren: Crystal, Jennifer, Jessica, Jason, Christopher, and Leah as well as numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews extended family and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM on Friday, March 11, 2022, at the Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St., Millsboro, DE 19966, where friends may call from 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM for viewing and visitation. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park. Pastor Leeza Smack will officiate.
