Malissa Ann Dorsey, 87, of Millsboro, DE, passed away peacefully on February 3, 2025. Born on September 7, 1937, in Virginia, she was the daughter of the late George and Maggie (Godwin) Dorsey.
A devoted homemaker, Malissa dedicated her life to her family, cherishing every moment spent with her children and grandchildren. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life—working on puzzles and word searches, reading, watching her beloved soap operas and westerns, and above all, sharing love and laughter with those she held dear. She was Mom-Mom to everyone.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 sons (Kevin, Sylvester & Terry), 2 daughters (Jeanette & Cynthia), 4 brothers (Bill, Chester, Carlton & Alfred), 3 sisters (Alice, Geraldine & Rose) & 1 great-grandson.
She is survived by her children Alex (Linda), Glendora (Oscar), Robert, Gregory, Kendall, Juanita (Kim), Calvin, Timothy, Linda & Gary (Catina), 4 sisters - Phyllis Lewis, Levola Hopkins, Regina Taylor & Stephanie Dukes (Rozelle), 2 brothers - Apostle Ivory Hopkins (Evelyn) & Nathaniel Hopkins & 1 sister-in-law Ruth Dorsey, 2 very special nieces Connie Wise & Carolyn Watson, 34 grandchildren, 104 great-grandchildren, 12 great-great-grandchildren & a host of adoptive grandchildren, nieces, nephews & cousins.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, February 16, 2025, at St. John 2nd Baptist Church in Millsboro, DE, at 2:30pm with a visitation from 1-2:30pm prior to the start of the service. Interment will immediately follow the service at St. John 2nd Baptist Cemetery.
Malissa’s warmth, kindness, and unwavering love for her family will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
