Marabella Hitchens' Obituary
Marabella “Belle” (Hall) Hitchens, 70 years of age, of Millsboro, Delaware peacefully passed away at her home on February 16, 2023. Belle was born on December 17, 1952, in Millsboro, Delaware to the late Everett L. Hall, Sr. and Betty (Jackson) Hall. Belle was courageous in her battle against cancer and she never complained. She remained very positive and encouraging to others throughout this journey. Belle was a woman of faith and she knew God had her back.
Belle worked at Vlasic Pickle plant in Millsboro, DE for 25+ years and later, as a teller, at Fulton Bank in Georgetown, DE. Recently, she was self-employed providing cleaning services in the Lewes Beach area. In her early educational journey, Belle attended Warwick School (#225) in Millsboro, DE, and William C. Jason High School in Georgetown, DE. In 1970, she graduated from Sussex Central High School in Georgetown, DE. On December 31, 1970, she married the love of her life, William M. Hitchens, Sr. Belle was the grand champion of Scrabble and enjoyed doing puzzles. She was always the life of the party and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Her favorite companion was her dachshund, “Chico”; she shared many joyous moments with him. Belle never knew a stranger. She had no problem connecting with people from various backgrounds and experiences. Marabella was preceded in death by her parents, Betty and Everett Hall, Sr. and her husband, William M. Hitchens, Sr.
She leaves to cherish her memory: a son, William M. Hitchens, Jr. and his wife, LuAnn; brothers: Glendon (Bonnie) Hall of Millsboro, DE, and Everett (Haven) Hall, Jr. of Delair, NJ; sisters-in-law, Martha Hitchens of Magnolia, DE, Elva Hitchens of Milford, DE, Jennie Hitchens of Millsboro, DE; granddaughters, Alexa Hitchens, Atlanta, GA, Emoni Hitchens, Pine Bluff, AR, and Brittany Thomas, Savannah, GA and two great granddaughters, Jordyn Taylor and Kamryn Jackson of Pine Bluff, AR and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Special friends include Kathie Sunkett, Maureen Dempster, Mary Jane Willing, Paula Munson, Sabrina Balentine, Trudy Jackson, Lauren Zakrociemski, and Sandra (Miller) Zacamitzin. Also, she leaves behind, her forever friend, “Chico”, who watched over her and protected her until the end of her journey on this earth.
At Belle’s request, there will be no services.
The family suggests donations, in her memory, payable to Beebe Medical Foundation for the Tunnell Cancer Center (Patient Special Needs), 902 Savannah Road, Lewes, DE 19958.
