MARGARET A RICKARDS's Obituary
Mrs. Margaret A. Rickards of Georgetown, DE passed away at Beebe Medical Center on Thursday, September 3, 2015. She was 74 years old.
Margaret was born on August 18, 1941 in Wilmington, DE to the late August and Mildred Buckalew Mayer. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, David Rickards, Sr., as well as a sister, Betty Ward and two brothers, William Mayer and Charles Mayer.
She graduated from Wilmington High School and went on to become an LPN. Later she became a care giver not only for her family but to others for many years prior to her employment at the Stockley Center where she retired. Her life revolved around her family. Margaret was always a giving person and always wanted to make sure everyone was taken care of. She was a selfless soul. Margaret enjoyed family get togethers, crochet, talk radio, especially the Dan Gaffney Show, cross word puzzles, solitaire and board games. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister and friend and will be greatly missed.
Margaret is survived by four children; David Rickards, Jr. and his wife Cinda of Frankford, DE; Cindy Rickards of Georgetown, DE, with whom Margaret lived; Carrie Magathan and her husband Michael of Milton, DE; Billy Rickards and his wife Kristin Brittingham of Long Neck, DE; a sister, Myrt Werkheiser of Newport, DE, along with seven grandchildren, Andrew Peruchi, Jessica Rickards, Brandon Magathan, George Baisch, Alexus Rickards, Isaiah Magathan and Kalib Rickards. We can't forget her pug "Lucy" whom Margaret adored.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, September 9, 2015 at the Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St., Millsboro, DE 19966, where friends may visit after 12:00 Noon. Burial will follow at Carey's Cemetery in Millsboro.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions in Margaret's memory to either Beebe Medical Foundation (ICU) 902 Savannah RD, Lewes, DE 19958 or Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
