MARIAN V SMITH's Obituary
Mrs. Marian V. Smith, of Millsboro, DE, passed away on Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at the Capitol Nursing Home in Dover. She was 105 years old. Mrs. Smith was born on August 23, 1909 in Bear, DE to the late Arthur H. and Hannah Oakes Walther. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband, Willis A. Smith, Sr. in 1989 and her son, Willis A. Smith, Jr. in 2005. She was co-owner and operator of Middlesex Building and Roofing in Millsboro for 50 years. Marian was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Millsboro for 64 years. She also served on the Town Council in Millsboro. She was a tough, strong willed lady and loved needlepoint, cross stitch and crochet. Marian also loved her grandpets ""Lester"" the cat and ""Lucy Lu"" the dog. She is survived by three granddaughters, Karen S. Delp and her husband Michael, Deneen Rowe and her companion Dickie Smith, Lena Eaton and her companion Winn Hamilton along with three great grandchildren, Erin Todd, Eric Rowe and Ashley Eaton and four great-great grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 7:00 PM on Monday, September 29, 2014 at the Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St., Millsboro, DE 19966, where friends may call after 6:00 PM for viewing and visitation. Interment will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at The Silverbrook Cemetery and Memorial Park, 3300 Lancaster Ave, Wilmington, DE 19805. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Grace United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 566, Millsboro, DE 19966.
