MARIE CATHERINE JOHNSON's Obituary
Marie Catherine Flood Johnson, of Georgetown, DE, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 30, 2012, in the loving care of her family at home after a long illness. Born in Philadelphia, PA on Feb. 15, 1934, she was daughter of the late Thomas and Catherine Hettinger Flood. She was a home maker, married to her husband of 62 years, Elwood Martin Johnson, who survives her. She loved knitting, making Christmas stockings, loved to read and do home canning, and was especially devoted to her family, and loved spending time with her grandchildren. Everyone loved her excellent dumplings. She was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church in Georgetown. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children: Quintin R. Johnson, and his wife Maria, of Georgetown; Marie May Meding, and her husband Walter, of Nassau, DE; Linda J. Sturgis, and husband Scott, of Milford, DE; and Ivalene J. Still, and husband Robert, of Antioch, TN. She is also survived by a brother, Thomas Flood, Jr., of Florida. She has six grandchildren: John and Faith Still; Dawn and Kelly Meding; Chloe Carey; and Lucas Johnson. There is one great-grandchild: Jade Marie Lowe, and another ""on the way."" A funeral service and Celebration of Her Life will be held on Friday, October 5, 2012 at 1:00 PM at the Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St., Millsboro, DE 19966, where friends may call one hour prior for visitation. Rev. Richard Blades will officiate. Interment follows at St. John's UMC Cemetery, Georgetown.
