Mary Louise Clifton's Obituary
Mary Louise Clifton, 78 of Millsboro, Delaware passed away on Friday, November 15, 2024, at home surrounded by her family. A Delaware native, she was born on October 1, 1946 in Milford, daughter of the late Lorenzo and Sadie (Moore) Scott.
Mary graduated from Millsboro High School, Class of 1964. She worked for the National Cash Register and then Townsend for a few years before she decided home was where she was needed to help her husband, William "Wesley" Clifton, to raise chickens. They owned and operated chicken houses together for over 50 years. Between her two children and 54,000 chickens, she had her hands, and her heart, full. Mary was the kind of mom everyone wanted, loving, kind, and would do anything for anyone. She was an amazing cook and filled her home with love and from time to time a little sass. She was spunky and fun to be around. Wesley will miss bowling date nights together and all the wonderful memories they shared.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in passing by her brother, Calvin Scott; sister, Katherine Dukes; and brothers in law Bill Hudson and Gene Dukes. She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, William Wesley Clifton; her two children: Lucinda Shawver (Keith) and William W Clifton, III (Prudy); her six grandchildren: Amanda Shawver, Brittany Palmer (Harrison), Charles Shawver, Christian Green (JT), Samuel Green, and Hannah Clifton; six great grandchildren: Jaden, Cameron, Braelyn, Bryson, Brentley, and Braxton; her sister, Eleanor Hudson; and sister in law, Catherine Scott.
Services will be private.
