Mary Ann LaLave's Obituary
Mary Ann Barbarette LaLave, of Millsboro, DE passed away on Saturday, January 11, 2014. She was 68 years old. Mary Ann was born on in Hazelton, PA on June 15, 1945 to the late Dominic and Frances Giacamarro Barbarette. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister, Marlene Ostroff. Mary Ann spent a lifetime accompanying her husband in his Government Service all over the world throughout their marriage. She was a member of Mary Mother of Peace Roman Catholic Chuch where she was active in the church choir, and also a member of Cursillos group. She travelled annually on a Military group pilgrimage to Our Lady or Lordes. She was active in the Military Theater Productions and the Possum Point Players where she was a reader, accomplished actor and skilled in set construction. She enjoyed travelling with her husband on school vacations where they travelled across Europe. She is survived by her husband of 49 years, John E. LaLave of Millsboro, DE; two daughters, Jeannine LaLave of Linwood, NJ and Jessica LaLave of Millsboro, DE; a niece, Melissa Ostroff-Gundrum who is now considered a beloved adopted daughter; six grandchildren, Matthew, Jeffrey, William, Brooke, Paula and Julia. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, January 17, 2014 at 11:00 AM at the Mary Mother of Peace Roman Catholic Church, 30839 Mount Joy Road, Millsboro, DE, 19966, where friends may call after 10:15 AM. Rev. L. James Downs will officiate. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery, in Drums, Pennsylvania.
