Mary Sue "Susie" Layton's Obituary
Mary Sue (Susie) Layton, age 88 of Georgetown, DE, passed away at the Country Rest Home on Monday February 1, 2021. Susie was born in Jacksonville, Fl to the late Tyre Lee Roper and Nora Stradley Roper.
She retired from Stockley Center after 30 years and was able to spend time quilting and hooking rugs that won awards.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Thomas and Tyre Lee Roper, Jr and sisters June Walton and Nancy Ansley and her husband of 63 years, Wallace A Layton.
She is survived by Rebecca Henderson, sister, Carleton Henderson, brother-in-law, daughters Patricia Brown and Kathy Hiatt and son Allen Layton as well as 6 grand daughters and 8 great grandchildren.
A viewing will be held on Monday, February 8, 2021 from 1 PM - 2 PM at the Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St., Millsboro, DE 19966. The funeral will begin at 2 PM with Rev. Dr. James Van Der Wall officiating. Interment will follow at Carey's Cemetery in Millsboro.
