Mary Agnes Thurston's Obituary
Mary Agnes Thurston, 95, of Millsboro, and formerly of Philadelphia, PA passed away gently in the loving care of her family at her home on May 19, 2015. She was born in Philadelphia on October 20, 1919 to the late Charles and Helen Whalen Harrison. She was considered an angel by her family, and had worked all her life as a waitress to support and raise her children. She was a member of St. Stephens Roman Catholic Church parish, and later St. Veronica's in Philadelphia. She was a happy, vibrant woman, and loved happy hour with friends and family. Her interests included Bingo, card games, and having parties. Her ""Open House"" at Easter, was a favorite affair. She was simply a lovely woman devoted to her family, loved them deeply and was an animal lover as well. She especially loved cats. In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her first husband, Arthur Thurston, in 1981 and her second husband, Jon Henry, in 1996. She was also preceded by two sisters: Elizabeth and Helen; and four step-children: Daniel; Nina; Robert; and Jon. She is survived by her children: John Thurston, and his wife Sara, of Franklinville, NJ; and Mary Ellen Henry (preceeded by her husband Daniel) of Millsboro, DE, and five step-children: Lolly; Cindy; David; Frances; and Marcie. She also has six grandchildren: Melissa (Frank); Kelly (Dave); Daniel, Jr. (Jen); John (Linda); Joseph (Nguyet); and Jamie. There are 16 great-grandchildren: Tyler; Nicholas; Alyssa; Gabriel; Gavin; McKenna; Daniel III; Dylan; Dustin; Destiny; Abigail; John; Matthew; Brianna; Alyiah; and John. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends and an especially close nephew ""Our Bobby"" and his wife, Denise. A visitation and prayer vigil service will be held on Saturday, May 23, 2015 from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM at Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St., Millsboro, DE. The vigil will be conducted by Deacon David McDowell. Arrangements for interment are private.
