MATTIE L MILLER's Obituary
Mattie L. Miller, 67 of Georgetown, Delaware passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 20, 2016 at the Milford Delaware Hospice Center. Born on February 9, 1949 in Selbyville, Delaware, she was the daughter of the late Neal C. Cherry and Mattie Mitchell Cherry.
She received her education in the Frankford and William Jason High School. Mattie was employed by the Townsend Poultry Division for many years before retiring. She then became a dedicated Homemaker and Daycare provider.
Mattie, "BEAN", as she was affectionately known was a dedicated wife, of 46 years to the late Therman B. ("Hon") Miller who preceded her in death on February 4, 2013. Together they had four children. Her past time was spent cooking, watching westerns and game shows and playing cards with her siblings. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded by a son Michael B. Miller and stepdaughter, Bertina DuPont and four additional siblings.
During her Christian journey Mattie was a faithful and dedicated member of the Pentecostal Church of God of Lincoln, Incorporated , Millsboro where she was the President of the Church Anniversary Committee, an active member of the Ministry, Culinary, Pastor's Aid and Women's departments.
She is survived by her children: Juanita Lewis and her husband Brantley of Georgetown; Demaris Miller of Long Neck, Elder Charity Miller of Wilmington, ; Kenisha Miller of Greenwood; two step-sons, Therman DuPont and wife Amanda of Wilmington, Terrance DuPont of New Castle, DE; and Stepfather, Wilbert Suggs and wife Mattie of Bridgeville, Delaware. Four granddaughters: Brandi, Brooklyn, Kennedy, Madison and numerous other who called her grandmother. Two sisters: Betty Bryant and husband Cleveland of Selbyville, Stephanie Showell and husband Steve of Georgetown; six brothers: Wayde Cherry and wife Jean of Dagsboro; Elmer Cherry and wife Delores of Dover; Howard Cherry of Georgetown, stepbrothers: Calvin Suggs and wife Starr of Frankford; Danny Suggs and wife Lisa of Dagsboro and Courtland Suggs and wife Nicole of Felton, DE.
A Home Going service and Celebration of Mattie's life will be held Sunday, November 27, 2016 at 11:00 AM, Pentecostal Church of God of Lincoln, Inc. 9163 Greentop Rd Lincoln, DE 19960 where family and friends may call from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Bishop Marion L. Hendricks will be the officiating clergy. Burial will follow immediately following the service at the Milford Community Cemetery.
