MICHAEL JOSEPH WOLANSKI's Obituary
WOLANSKI , Michael J Newark / Millsboro, Delaware : Michael Joseph Wolanski , 68, Michael Joseph Wolanski died peacefully January 6, 2015 in the presence of his two sons Michael and David. He was born December 23, 1946 in Tyrol Austria, to Stella (Rudzik ) and Michael Wolanski. The family immigrated to the USA in 1949 and settled in Binghamton, NY. In 1964 Mike joined the US Air Force and bravely served in the Vietnam War. He was wounded while on duty at the Saigon Airport. He was transported to Guam where he recovered and then served at Dover Air Base until his honorable discharge. Michael eventually became a VA Regional Employment Officer in Delaware. He specialized in assisting Vietnam Veterans to find jobs. He also helped them with various problems. Michael coordinated many Vietnam Veteran's events; he was especially proud of having his friend, Vice President Joe Biden as a speaker. He served in this capacity until his retirement. Michael is predeceased by his wife Carmella, mother of his two devoted sons. Michael and his wife Gabrielle, Millsboro, Delaware and their loving daughter Jessica; David and his wife Anna, Ocean View, Delaware. Michael is predeceased by his parents Stella and Michael. He was especially close to his mother. Michael is survived by his four brothers and their families: Anthony and his wife Theresa, Chestnut Ridge, NY; John and his wife Karen, State College, PA; Stanley and his wife Thola, Athens, PA , Thomas and his wife Ann, Fairport, NY. Michael has many loving nephews and nieces. Michael always attended and was very generous at all the family occasions. Michael's many friends in Binghamton, NY and Delaware fondly remember him for his humor, caring, loving and free spirit nature. They remember his fondness for flashy fast cars and his PUG dog Trixie, who was always a comfort and at his side. There will be a Chapel service at 2PM, Friday January 16, 2015 at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2666p Patriots Way, Millsboro, Delaware 19966, with Military Honors. In lieu of flowers, donations are appreciated in Michael's name, to The Sacred Heart Ukrainian Catholic Church, Cemetery Chapel Fund, 230 Ukrainian Hill Road, Johnson City, New York 13790-1686
